Teacher will introduce William Faulkner and his use of inference in his short stories.
Students will read aloud/think aloud "A Rose for Emily".
Students will answer Study Guide Questions on "A Rose for Emily". Turn in by end of period.

Journal: How can you use nature to explain your mood. Give examples.
Students will take Cornell notes on Authors: Contee Cullen, Arna Bontemps, and Jean Toomer on Pg. 936- Turn in Completed Notes
Students will read "From the Dark Tower" pg. 938 and answer Critical Reading Questions
Students will read "A Black Man Talks of Reaping" pg. 939 and "Storm Ending" pg. 940 and answer Critical Reading Questions.
Students will complete ALL activities on pg. 941...Literary Analysis, Reading Strategy and Extend Understanding.
All work will be completed AND turned in by the end of the period. Work will be counted as a TEST GRADE!!!!!
Homework: Write a paragraph discussing how all these poems are about race on the surface. What else could they be related to. At least 5-7 sentences!!!

Journal: If you had to pass a message down, or teach a lesson to future generations about your life, what would it be?
Teacher will review Author Notes on Langston Hughes
Students will take a quiz on Langston Hughes.
Teacher will review Unit 5 Vocabulary Words
Teacher will lead students in a read aloud/think aloud "Mother to Son" and "Dream Deferred".

Students will write a paragraph about a time your dream deferred and which of Hughes' options happened to you.
Homework: Write a metaphor poem passing on a message to future generations.

Teacher will present Author Info on Langston Hughes
Students will study for Author Quiz on Wednesday
Teacher will lead students in read aloud/think aloud "Theme for English B"
Students will write a paragraph explaining what the author is trying to tell the reader.
Each student will write their OWN "Theme for English 3".
This is due TODAY...before you leave!!!
Must be no less than 20 lines long (Does NOT have to rhyme!)
Teacher will introduce Menu for Unit 5
Students will complete Menu for Unit 5 for Homework. Must be turned in tomorrow!!
